Final Project - CF Walk
Members of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity and co-sponsoring organizations come together to begin the planning process for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Great Strides Walk.
Peter Durning, the president of Pi Kappa Alpha (the walk's primary sponsor), leads the planning committee in a conversation on merchandise design.
One of those merchandise items, the walk shirts (pictured above) receive much attention from the planning team and serve as one of the primary forms of advertising and branding the event.
Casey Rogers, a member of the planning committee, takes notes at a meeting.
Durning directs the meeting's attention to what other Cystic Fibrosis chapters do for their respective fundraisers.
The local chapter combines original thought with established CF Foundation precedent to plan the event.
The T-Shirts feature the names of all co-sponsoring organizations.
Gracie Riley, junior member of a co-sponsoring organization, drops T-shirts off at a fraternity house. T-shirt distribution is a major element of planning in the weeks leading up to the event.
Riley then models the shirt, complete with the logo on the front.
Planning team members must cover a lot of ground to contact all co-sponsoring organizations and effectively distribute their T-shirts.
Tommy Trophy (right), is the founder of the walk. He is a brother of Pi Kappa Alpha, and suffers with Cystic Fibrosis. Pictured above, he addresses the hundreds of individuals that showed up to participate in the event.
The walk begin at La Plata Beach on North Campus, and runs approximately two miles back to the starting location.
Members of Pi Kappa Alpha smile as they support their brother in his fundraiser.
There is a mass celebration at the finish of the walk, where Cystic Fibrosis Foundation staff members and other participants wait for the walkers to cross the line.
The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation pays homage to the corporate sponsors that made the walk a possibility.
